Our Home is really focused on ensuring residents
are in a calm environment with the knowledge they are free to
live how they choose to.
Aperee Living Galway is situated in the peace and quiet of the countryside, yet we’re only a stone’s throw away from the bustling centre of Galway City. Aperee Living Galway cares for both long term and short stay residents and has been designed to help them feel at home.
We’re situated on a height, which gives you stunning views of Galway City. You can enjoy those views from our decking area, where you can see all the way to Ballybrit Racecourse. Or you can feast your eyes on our beautiful, landscaped gardens.
Aperee Living Galway has plenty of space for everyone, with 52 single and 4 double ensuite bedrooms available. We like to give you plenty of opportunity to be part of our nursing home community, so each floor has a separate day room, dining room and nursing care station. If you want to celebrate a special occasion with your loved ones, we will offer you the use of our function room. But if you prefer privacy when your family visits, you’re welcome to use our visitors’ room.

Before you arrive at Aperee Living Galway, our team will spend time talking to you and getting to know you, so we can give you the care you deserve when you become a resident. We’ll create a care plan that’s tailored to you, and we’ll settle you into a comfortable bedroom where you’ll feel at home.
We have an excellent team of nurses and nurse managers who come from a variety of different backgrounds, and we all bring something unique to our home. Our healthcare staff are supported by a team of healthcare assistants and our two activities coordinators. Our care team is made up of the clinical nurse managers, staff nurses and healthcare assistants, who are constantly updating their qualifications so they can give you the best possible care.

High Standard of Living
Bedrooms are designed using the same inclusive design principles as common areas and can be personalised for each resident through the inclusion of their chosen personal belongings. Bedrooms are spacious and private or semi-private, with private en suite bathrooms and TV. Nurse call buttons and other safety measures are standard throughout the Home both in private and communal spaces.
We believe mealtimes are the most important part of our day and that good food is the greatest pleasure in life. We make sure our meals are both nutritionally balanced and delicious, with lots of appetising menu options to choose from. Our meals are prepared fresh each day and you can eat them in the dining room or in the comfort of your room. As well as your main meals, we offer you tasty snacks and drinks throughout the day.
Each Aperee Home has a variety of lounges and common areas, and can accommodate small, cosy gatherings as well as larger group activities such as personal or resident parties, performances, etc. Residents can choose the environment that suits their mood on any given day whether that is a need for personal quiet time, uninterrupted time with family or time with friends who share the Home with them.
All Aperee Homes feature a landscaped and user-friendly garden space designed with resident leisure and safety in mind. Gardens are planted seasonally, often with the assistance and advice of green-fingered residents who have an interest in being involved. Gardens feature outdoor seating, raised beds, and where the layout of the garden and resident safety facilites it, water features, green houses/polly tunnels and nature walks. Each garden has paved patio/seating areas where residents can sit in the warm sunshine shaded by our colourful umbrellas and hats. Special care is taken to protect our residents’ sensitive skin from the sun and sun glasses, sunscreen and other protection measures are the norm.
At Aperee Living Galway, we want you to continue doing the things you love and to flourish as a person. That’s why we take the time to find out about you – your background, your talents and skills and your personality. Our vibrant, creative activities coordinators will use that information to create an activities programme especially for you. They’ll make sure you’re always busy and active, and that you can keep using the wonderful skills you have built up over a lifetime.

With her significant experience in working with older adults, our Group Catering and Hospitality Manager understands the importance of nutrition and hydration, food choice and food safety. Types of Care
We ensure that residents have access to everything they need when they need it.
At Aperee, we encourage an attitude that enables staff to empathise, listen to and learn from the life experiences of our residents. This attitude underpins the delivery of care at Aperee to enhance the quality of life not only for residents and their families, but for staff too.
Aperee takes great pride in the expert, multi-cultural and compassionate nursing team led by the Director of Nursing in each home and supported by the Director of Care, Quality and Standards. Nurses are selected for their expertise and a demonstrated desire to work with older adults. At Aperee we celebrate diversity and cherish the richness of the collective experiences and education that our nursing and support teams bring to their work.
Nursing care is delivered in a compassionate, human and person centred way. The delivery of person centred care has a significant impact on quality of life for residents. It is a way of thinking and doing things that sees the resident as an equal partner in planning, developing and monitoring their own care to ensure the care provided meets their needs.
There are many different types of dementia. The two most common types are Alzheimer’s disease and vascular dementia. People with dementia have unique and complex needs. A person with Dementia faces the challenge of changes in how they remember, think, communicate and do everyday things. Aperee’s team of professionally trained staff are skilled in understanding the challenges and dilemmas that having dementia poses to the individual and their families.
Aperee offers respite care in all its Homes providing a safe transition from hospital to home, or providing long term care givers with short term support in the provision of care for a loved one.
Respite care is short term care (usually one to two weeks, but more if necessary) that enables a person to transition from an acute hospital setting to their own home in a phased and supported manner. It is also a service that provides care givers with relief by temporarily taking over caregiving duties. This allows the primary caregiver some time to rest and recuperate in the knowledge that their loved one is being well looked after. Primary caregivers can then continue providing care refreshed and with renewed energy and interest.
Aperee Chefs and catering staff are carefully selected for their passion for good quality, home-cooked and interesting food. The catering team is led by our Group Catering and Hospitality Manager who has worked as a Head Chef for many years, and who demands high standards from her team.

You can take part in organised activities like bingo, storytelling and baking with the Golden Years Group, while the Tir na nOg group offers activities that are ideally suited to people with memory loss.
